CAMPING

FESTIVALCAMP

The festivalcamp opens at 12pm on Sunday 30th of June and closes on Saturday 6th of July, 12pm.

Festivalcamp is only open to people aged 16 and over.  We will be checking ID for people with campingpasses and if you have purchased a campingpass and you are under 16, you will not be allowed access to the campsite and you will not be able to claim a refund for your campingpass.

If you would like to camp in the festival camp you must purchase a festivalpass (all included) or a seperate campingpass. A campingpass will give you admission to the festival campsites. You will be issued with a separate camping wristband at the festival and this will only be given to people who have purchased a campingpass. You will not be allowed in the festival campsite if you only have a campingpass – Hove is a music festival not a holiday camp. You cannot just go and visit friends in the campsite – you must have an event ticket and a campingpass which have been exchanged for wristbands to enter the festival camp.

If you have a daypass and a campingpass you may camp in the campsite from the day that it opens until the day that it closes, but you will only be able to enter the festival arena on the day/s that your daypass is valid.

In order to accommodate everybody in safety and comfort we would request that you please bring a tent which is designed for the number of people sleeping in it. Please don’t bring a 6 man tent for 2 people and don’t take up more space in the campsite than you need. Our campsite teams will be on hand to help with locating camping spaces, putting up tents and keeping fire lanes clear.

You must bring your own camping equipment to the festival. Hove does not provide tents for anyone who has forgotten to bring a tent with them.

Please bear in mind that you need to swap your event tickets for a camping wristband to enter the campsite. If you arrive at the festival after the wristband exchange has shut, you will be placed in a temporary camp outside the main campsite overnight until the accreditation area opens the next morning. If you are sharing a tent with someone who is already in the campsite or if you have given your tent to friends who are already in the festival camp, you will not be able to get in without a camping wristband. Therefore we suggest you either arrive during the wristband exchange opening hours or make sure you have your own tent so you don’t have to sleep under the stars.

CAMP INFO

CAMPING RULES & TIPS
You must be at least 16 years of age before 30th of June, 2013 to stay in the festivalcamp. Anyone attending the festival who will be under the age of 16 should either book a daypass, or stay off site.  Alternatively you can book into the family and quiet campsite (only 10 minutes walk from the festival arena)

. Only bring things you can afford to lose. Hove takes no responsibility for things that are stolen, so please keep valuables on you, or make sure they are well hidden.

In the unlucky case you have your phone or visa stolen, be sure to know your card details and the IMEI number of mobile phone (found by pressing * # 06 # on phone), so you can have them blocked ASAP. Knowing your IMEI number also helps significantly in tracking down your phone.

Remember there is a full glass ban! There will be self-storage facilities for things you can’t bring in, but these cost money so think before you pack.

Label your belongings! If you do lose something and an honest soul should find it, having your name and number somewhere makes it much easier to help return it. On the other hand, don’t overdo it – too much info and a not-so-honest person might find your tent…

NO FIRES OR DISPOSABLE BARBEQUES! ETC. ETC
Respect fire guards! All camping areas have a 6-meter-wide fire road, both from east to west, and north to south, so that in the case of emergency, the fire department can drive in. Fire guards also help slow the spread of fire. For your own safety, please keep your entire tent (inc. pegs and rope) and other belongings within the marked area.

No barbequing in or around the tents! We have a separate BBQ area close to the campsite for you to use.

Do not play with fire. In an area full of tents, all close together – just think about the damage a fire would cause! For your and others’ safety, do not use open flames inside the campsite. This applies to, candles, flares, grills, etc.

Do not take up more space than you need. Stay within a reasonable radius of your tent. There is no point in having your entire living room at the festival, nor refrigerators, generators, sofas or other unnecessary stuff.

Illegal drugs are still illegal at the festival. Police will be at the festival, and if you are caught with drugs you are on your own.

The age limit for alcohol in Norway is 18 years; this is also goes for Hove!
Theft, vandalism, fights, inappropriate and gross behaviour will be prosecuted and lead to immediate eviction/removal from the area.

Clean up!  We at Hove respect the environment, so it would be great if you could too.

Remember hygiene! A festival place is packed full of people with varying control levels over their own personal hygiene. Maintain yours and avoid infections.

ZERO FOOTPRINT CAMP
We pride ourselves on being an environmentally friendly festival and we would ask that everyone who staying in our campsites to please look after their home for the duration. There will be plenty of recycling bins and general waste bins and we have a great team of volunteers who will help you dispose of your rubbish correctly.

Hove Festival is located in a very unique cultural landscape, with Tromøya’s highly distinctive fauna. For us at Hove Festival, it is important that we leave the area as nice as it was when we came, and perhaps prettier. We therefore ask all festival guests to both to explore the beautiful surroundings, and to treat nature with the respect it deserves. Although we take our share of responsibility to clean up and recycle all waste and materials that may be left on site please help us keep our commitments to the community in 2012, and in all the years to come!

Remember that small animals can get trapped in litter and birds can choke on or become tangled in rubbish. The seas around the island support fragile ecosystems but can become easily unbalanced by anything that doesn’t belong in them. Please use the many toilets provided in the camp sites and the festival arena and don’t pollute the ground or the water with your acidic waste. Cigarette butts take 12 years to fully biodegrade and one carelessly discarded cigarette could cause a fire that may threaten not only the wooded habitat of the island but also the safety of everyone at Hove and the future of the festival.

HANDY TIPS FOR GREEN CAMPERS
• Minimise the amount of packaging on products purchased.  Avoid buying over-packaged goods and individual portion packs.

• Buy durable products, returnable bottles and containers that can be re-filled .

• Look out for recycled goods and those packaged in recycled materials

• Cut down on packaging by buying your fruit and vegetables loose.

• Buy fair-trade and organic food, drinks and products at stalls if possible
.

• Use re-sealable containers to keep your food fresh (this reduces the amount of plastic film and aluminium foil you throw away).

• Use rechargeable batteries.

• Where you can, recycle what you cannot reuse.

• Don’t drop your litter. Use the bins and recycling units!

• Litter pickers are lovely! Please help them and make up for ‘messy’ times.

• Don’t leave rubbish or indeed your entire camping set behind!

• Say no to plastic bags if offered by market vendors. Bring your own re-useable cloth bag.

• Please please please don’t drop your cigarette butts. Every butt you throw on the ground has to be picked up by someone else. Use an empty film canister to collect your butts.

• Separate your waste at your campsite and bring your recycling to the appropriate bins.

• Use public transport and our shuttle bus service if possible.

• If you must use your car, making sure your tyres are properly inflated will mean that your car will run more efficiently and will reduce your carbon emissions. If you are in a queue to enter or leave the site, please turn off your engine rather than idling the car.

• Try to use only phosphate free shampoo and soap in the showers and remember to take a short shower to conserve precious water
.

• Turn off taps & showers when finished
.

• Live by the ‘LEAVE NO TRACE’ philosophy – take only photos & leave only footprints.

PARTYTENTS & CARAVANS
A limited number of party tent tickets will go on sale next spring. You must purchase one of these if you wish to bring a party tent to Hove. If you bring a party tent and have not purchased a party tent ticket, you will have to leave your party tent at the storage facility at your own cost until after the festival.

To buy a party tent ticket, you must also have an all inclusive festivalpass or an weekpass or dayspass + a campingpass. Party tents may only be put up in the campsite in addition to a sleeping tent – you may not sleep in your party tent. You will be sent a party tent ticket which you will need to take to the wristband exchange at the festival to get stamped.  Once your party tent ticket has been stamped, you will need to keep it with you as proof that you have paid for your party tent. All party tents shall be placed with one of their entrances facing the fire exit canals. This is for the safety of you and your friends.
