HOVE —AN ECO FRIENDLY PARTY!
When we first decided to make a festival at Hove, we were clear from the start that this had to be a festival with a strong environmental profile. At Hove we come together, in between the skies, the sea and the land. It is easy to be humbled with the elements so close to us. It is nothing less than natural to be thankful for such great environments to host a party at. And it has increased our awareness and importance as an eco-friendly festival.Hove has become the first carbon neutral festival in Scandinavia, and this is something we take pride in! We believe a festival like Hove is a great opportunity to prove that change is possible, and that this change doesn’t necessarily mean we have to wave goodbye to things we love. Like good music, or a great party!
Every year we have several environmental projects in the works, some on a small scale, some on a large scale. We aim to make the Hove Festival a mind blowing party, but one based on eco-friendly principles.
There are plenty of things you can do for the environment on your own. Even at a festival. Here’s a brief, incomplete list:
-Travel eco-friendly! Bus, boats or train are nice. Bikes even nicer, even if that might be a bit of a hassle. Are you driving? Do your friends AND the environment a favor, and car pool. Are you flying? A lot of airlines have programs for carbon compensation these days, ask your airlines for details.
- Eat eco-friendly! Red meat might taste good, but not so much for the environment. Veggies are rock’n’roll as anything. Fortunately our food stands has plenty of options that are good for both the environment – and your stomach. Also: avoid single use barbeque grills, and use ours. Better suited for BBQ, and better for the environment.
- Litter eco-friendly! We’ve made recycling bins available easily at the camp site, if you use these, we’ll be very happy because we won’t have to pick up your garbage, and you might be a little happier too, from your good conscience…
It doesn’t have to be harder than that. Even if there’s plenty more you could –and should –do. But why not let Hove be a start?
Hove is placed in a unique cultural and biological landscape, so take good care of it!
